Abadius 31st 17 - The end of a Tyrant

The group rests uneventfully and in the morning begin to discuss what to do next, after some debate they agree that they should attempt to put together the tokens they have collected so far and see if it shows them the path towards the moving fortress.

As soon as the tokens were put together they started to pull Otto in one direction.

After a couple of hours of travelling the group find themselves back in the briars as they walk into what appeared to be a giant metallic leg.

They use various methods to climb the leg and enter into the fortresses belly where upon exploration find that the first level is dedicated with kitchens and temples to strange dark gods but no sign of the missing princess.

The second level they find a set of double doors which lead into a room covered in silks and over stuffed pillows with two sets of stairs heading further up but within the room dwelled 2 creatures one of water and one of fire (Efreeti) as they pose to attack the intruders.

The Fire Efreeti fires a ray of fire at Vaneer and then a quickened scorching ray at the cleric, the after effect is a very crispy cleric out cold on the floor,
The Water Efreeti turns herself invisible,
Natalia casts a quench spell at the Fire Efreeti which damages him,
Bob attacks the Fire Efreeti and hits,
Boss rushes to Vaneer and administers a healing potion to the cleric,
Hugo attacks and hits the Efreeti with his frosted weapon,
Miro flanks the Efreeti and critically strikes which kills the Efreeti,

As the fire Efreeti collapsed to the ground a scream suddenly erupted around the room from an invisible water Efreeti as a rush of water in the form of a vortex flies at the rogue who manages to jump out of the way with the outcome of being blinded.

Vaneer heals himself enough to enable him to stand up,
Natalia casts a lightning bolt at the water Efreeti,
Boss throws a handful of dust of dryness into the vortex but the dust only injures the Efreeti instead of absorbing the water,
Otto casts a fireball at the vortex,
Hugo attacks the vortex and hits,

The vortex moves to engulf Miro,
Miro makes an attack at the Vortex but misses thanks to his blindness,
Vaneer casts searing light and hits the vortex,
Natalia sends a lightning bolt at the vortex whilst missing her attack with the flame blade spell,
Boss sends 3 arrows towards the Efreeti but only 1 manages to find its target,
Otto finishes the job as his magic missile kills the Efreeti with a pop and splash,

After exploring the second floor the group make their way up the stairs to find themselves in a large chamber that appeared to be a library with towering stacks of books and an immense golden telescope in the middle of the room next to an enormous blue-ish dragon where large sections of its scales have been replaced with human skin.

The dragon appeared to smirk before saying in its booming voice “I knew you would come! Your daughter may survive if your skins are enough for my needs!”

“Over my dead body!!” Responds Otto,
“That’s fine with me” the dragon retorts with a satisfied chuckles as he releases his breath weapon hitting all except Miro,

Boss is the first to attack but his arrows miss their target,
Miro drinks a potion and moves to one side,
Hugo moves away from the group, shoots and misses,
Vaneer casts a healing burst,
Bob attacks the Dragon and hits,

Dragon bites back at Bob and hits,
Natalia attempts to attack the dragon with a spell but the creature resisted,
Dragon attacks Bob and obliterates the honey badger fighting machine,
Otto casts Haste,
Boss shots the dragon 4 times with one arrow finding a critical spot,
Hugo attacks the dragon and manages to land a blow,

Miro moves into flank the dragon and manages to stab the creature,
Vaneer casts a healing burst hoping to stabilise Bob with the healing effect,
Bob slowly backs away from the fight back towards Natalia,
Natalia casts a spell,
The Dragon attacks Miro 4 out of 6 times bring the rogue down to a stagger,
Boss shoots and hits the dragon twice,

Vaneer lets off another healing burst this time hoping to aide Miro,
Miro decides to attack instead of retreat and manages to score a blow,
Natalia summons a large earth elemental to assist in the fight as it lands two blows,
Natalia then uses one of her touch spells which affects the dragon,
Dragon attacks Miro again along with the elemental where it manages to land a blow on each combatant,

Boss sends another folly of arrows but they all seem to bounce off the dragons hide,
Hugo manages to land a critical blow on the dragon’s underbelly,
Vaneer casts another healing burst,
Miro gets lucky with his attack as he lands the dragon its killing blow sending the tyrant roaring as it collapses to the ground.

After a quick round of healing the group soon find another set of double doors leading out of the library which when opened lead into a small prison type room where the missing princess was awaiting rescue unharmed.

To be Continued….

Abadius 30th 17 - You are one heck of a Diva! And no we don't mean you Miro!

The group rest peacefully and eventually arrive at the playhouse.

The large double sized building had a well-kept lawn, though the playhouse appeared a little run down and touched up in random places. Cautiously the group enter into the playhouse’ lobby only to be greeted by a little cricket like creature that appeared to be chasing an animated musical instrument.

“Ooh! Guests! Well hello there” greeted the cricket, “What show are you here to see then?” he continued,

“What show is currently running?” asked Otto,

“Well……” the cricket started to respond as he tried to grab his mischievous instrument, “we really don’t have a show on at the moment, the brothers are lacking in inspiration at the minute” he finished.

“I see” said Vaneer, “mind if we see the brothers? We might be able to help them with their burden” the cleric asked,

“By all means! You’ll find them through there” as the cricket pointed towards the doors leading to the auditorium.

The group thanked the cricket and made their way through the door to find themselves in the auditorium that had clear signs of not being used for quite some time, up on stage stood a man whom appeared to be playing with a string puppet, the man looked up at his guests.

“Hello! Afraid we’re not ready yet” he shouted across the auditorium to the group,

The gentleman then gasped and pointed towards Hugo and Boss exclaiming, “You two! Have you ever thought of acting?”

“Err….NO!” returned Hugo,
“My talent is in the strings of my bow and not acting” responded Boss,

A conversation ensues between the group and the man on the stag till he invites his star(Eliara) to come see her two new co-actors (Hugo & Boss) whom upon seeing the two fighters went into a fit of denial that such brutes could challenge her stardom to the point she lashed out and attacked them both as 4 peacock like creatures appear around her.

Otto casts Shout,
Boss shoots at one of the peacocks,
Miro attacks another peacock,
Hugo attacks another peacock,
Miro manages to kill one of the peacocks,

2 peacocks attack Otto,
Eliara attacks Miro and hits,
Natalia attacks and hits a peacock,
Bob attacks and kills another peacock,
Vaneer attacks the remaining peacock and hits,

Otto casts magic missile,
Boss shots at the last peacock and kills it,
The rooms suddenly becomes shrouded in darkness as Ballio (puppet operator) attacks Natalia,
A wall of Ice appears separating Eliara, Hugo and Miro from the rest of the group,

Miro moves to flank Eliara but misses his attack,
Eliara cast haste upon herself,
The puppet is discovered alive and the source of the darkness spell,
Bob attacks Ballio and hits,
Natalia casts flamestrike and hits the puppet (Balimar),
Vaneer uses a dispel magic to take down the Ice wall,
Otto casts haste over the group,
Boss attacks Balimar and hits the puppet twice,

Ballio attacks Natalia and hits the druid hard,
Balimar casts glitter dust which blinds Hugo,
Hugo attacks Ballio whilst blind and just manages to land a hit,
Miro manages to land a critical blow on Eliara,
Eliara lets her rage retaliate against Miro and slices and dices the rogue 4 times,

Bob attacks Ballio and hits the puppeteer,
Vaneer casts a Cure critical wounds on Natalia,
Otto casts Hideous laughter on Ballio which takes hold,
Balimar casts a rejuvenate spell on Ballio which tells the group that Balimar is the master whilst Ballio is a summoned creature!

Hugo manages to land a killing blow on Eliara,
Miro makes double sure that Eliara will stay down,
Natalia casts another flamestrike and hits Balimar,
Vaneer casts searing light at Balimar and destroys the puppet,
Otto casts scorching ray on Ballio,

Boss shoots Ballio twice with both arrows hitting home,
Ballio manages to land a critical blow upon Vaneer,
Miro attempts to tumble through Ballio’s legs but fumbles and ends up being knocked unconscious as he skims across the floor,
Natalia shifts into an earth elemental form,
Bob attacks and hits Ballio,
Vaneer casts a healing burst,
Otto casts another scorching ray and hits causing Ballio to explode with energy,

After the explosion the group find a diamond in the shape of a lily where Ballio last stood, the group then decide to leave the playhouse and set up camp for the night after a couple of hours.

Abadius 29th 17 - The reoccurring paladin conundrum

After camping overnight the group finally arrive at the bottom of the stairs to the volcano in the early morning of the next day.

As they make their way up the stairs they hear a voice ahead of them,

“A-ha! There you are you fiends!! I’ve been looking for you! Now admit you’re in over your head and hand me those tokens you’ve collected” demanded the voice,

The group didn’t need to look nor did they want to look up the stairs at the source of the voice as they could pretty much guess already to whom it belonged as they sighed and shuddered at the thought.

“How did he get away from the circus?” asked Natalia (see Abadius 25th 17 - Once upon a time in a very very strange and distant land)
“No idea” sighed Vaneer

Without a doubt as they slowly look up the staircase ahead of them they do indeed see a familiar looking paladin at which point there is an audible groan from the group.

“Come along then I don’t have all day! I need to save that persons daughter and defeat the evil dragon!” the paladin exclaimed,
“No” said Vaneer, “We’re rescuing the girl and defeating the dragon like we told you last time, your welcome to assist us but we’re not handing over the tokens!” the cleric continued.

“Ah, yes you. Do not be fooled any longer my friends as this cleric obviously worships an evil god to refuse the request of a paladin and has been fooling you to think he is working with your interests at heart! Join me in defeating this evil and I shall go rescue your daughter!” The paladin announced as he stepped down the stairs and took a swing at Vaneer which only just missed.

“Whoa! Hang on there, you just attacked a Cleric of mostly…pretty good standing surely that makes you evil for attacking an fellow holy warrior?” Miro interjected before the paladin took another swing,

“Ha! Little man if you truly believe me to be evil then I do insist that you strike me right here and now with that holy weapon of yours, go on I won’t even defend myself!” retorted the Paladin as he stood there arms open wide.

Miro smirked and took out his holy enchanted blade and swung at the paladin and missed by miles.

The paladin laughed, “You see! The gods protect me! Why? Because I am pure! Heroic! Truly Valiant! I am holy beyond holy and if you don’t join me as my squires I shall have no choice but to smite you all..starting with the evil cleric! Maybe he can be redeemed!” as the paladin again swung for Vaneer and this time not missing.

Vaneer retaliated but his attack missed and was met with a snigger from the paladin,
Miro flanks the paladin but his attack also misses and is met with another snigger,
Hugo charges in and manages to land a blow
The paladin turns to Hugo “You sir! Must be of true judgement to be able to hit me, join me good man! And we shall vanquish evil together!”

Boss shots at the paladin and also hits,
Otto casts a Haste spell on the party,
Paladin manages to land another blow on Vaneer,
Vaneer though still fails to hit the paladin,
Miro manages to find a gap in the paladins armour and land a blow,
Hugo again lands another blow,

Boss shoots two arrows this time with both finding their target,
Otto casts scorching ray and hits the paladin who just laughs and heals himself,
Vaneer finally manages to land a blow,
Miro stabs the paladin again which dealt enough damage to drop him to the ground,

Vaneer looked down at the paladin, an internal debate was racing through his mind and eventually sighed as he bent down and cast a stabilise spell on the paladin and then stepped over to Otto and Natalia to discuss what they should do with him,

Ideas ranged from just leaving him there, to leaving him there naked, donating his service to the giants and dwarves up the volcano though that didn’t really work at the circus. As they debate Miro decided to undo the stabilise spell with a quick swipe of his dagger.

Then as if by magic an avalanche happened to roll down the volcano and sweep the paladin down the side with it, Miro couldn’t help but chuckle whilst Vaneer stood at the side worrying what he should do..if at all anything.

“Well he isn’t Erastil is he?” mentioned Miro
“No” replied Vaneer
“So why worry?” asked Miro
“He’s still in an annoying way a good man” responded Vaneer
“Really?, he stood in our way to rescue an innocent girl from capture and struck you without a seconds thought!” Miro said pointing down at the mist of rock dust rising from the avalanche,
“You know what, your right! He clearly stood in the way of me performing Erastil’s work. I tried to save him but if the fates decided to sweep him away in a freak avalanche then I can’t be to blame” Vaneer decided
“Good!” Miro said patting the cleric on the back, “Of course it was a freak accident! How else could it have happened!” the Halfling smirked as he walked towards the rest of the group as they prepared to continue their ascent up the stairs.

The group make their way back up to the top of the volcano where they meet again with the ‘Tick tock’ man where they hand over the ample supply of grubs they had collected which in returns earns them a jade lens in return.

With the job done the group head back down the volcano, as they reach the bottom of the slope the ground begins to rumble and the sky begins to turn red as a solar eclipse covers the storyworld.
Suddenly 3 skeletons erupt from the ground,
Vaneer casts a positive energy burst severely injuring all 3 skeletons,
Otto uses magic missile to finish the job just as another 4 skeletons emerge,
Miro attacks a skeleton,
Hugo dispatches another,
Natalia uses her flaming blade to attack,

Vaneer casts another positive energy burst,
Otto turns his attention to the moon and casts an fireball at it,
Boss attacks 2 skeletons and kills both as 6 more emerge,
Miro continues his onslaught and kills a skeleton,
Natalia attacks another skeleton,

Bob attacks and hits a skeleton,
Hugo attacks another two and hits both,
Vaneer casts another positive energy burst killing 3 more skeletons,
Otto casts another fireball at the moon again as cracks start to appear,
Boss attacks and kills another skeleton,

The remaining 2 skeletons miss both Miro and Vaneer,
6 more skeletons emerge from the ground,
Miro misses his target,
Hugo attacks and hits two of the skeletons,
Natalia uses a flaming sphere on a skeleton,
Natalia swipes at another skeleton with her flaming blade,
Bob attacks another skeleton,
Vaneer casts another positive energy burst killing 2 skeletons,

Otto fireballs the moon again causing the celestial body to explode and causing the light in the world to return to normal which destroys the remaining skeletons.

After a short breather the group heal up and make their way towards the playhouse whilst resting along the way.

Abadius 28th 17 - Kicking the Queen’s Badonkadonk

The group rested uneventfully overnight only an hour away from the Manholds at it seem to make sense to tackle the location in daylight.

When the approached the area, they were in awe of the imposing manor that stood before them even if it did stink of burnt grease and fat.

Exploring the grounds only showed two ways into the manor, a set of double doors on the eastern and western side of the manor, which after a flip of a coin it was decided to start with the double doors on the eastern side.

What presided over the next couple of hours was a maze of doors, corridors and secret doors! It turned out and took the group a little while to figure it out that the manor had been rigged so that every time someone opened an normal door it would set off a very very very! Hot stream trap, and as every room had one door in and another door out it got very steamy.

It soon came apparent that the real route was through the maze of secret doors which were not trapped at all and eventually lead to the centre of the manor where a very large set of bronze double doors stood.

Cautiously Miro checked the doors for locks and traps but found nothing, so the rest of the group one by one also did their best to check but still they found nothing so reluctantly they pushed the doors open.

The doors opened into a large cavernous room that had been assembled as a waxworks and amongst the large vats of molten wax was a ginormous queen ant whose attention had been brought to the opening doors.

“Intruders!! Thieves!” The queen shouts whilst pointing at the group

“Whoa! With a ass like that I’d think twice about slimming round tight bends!” joked Miro but the queen heard the comment and made the Halfling the focus of her outrage.

Queen attacks Miro by shooting a globule of wax but misses the Halfling,

Otto piped in with the challenge “You started this, we’re finishing it!” and then let of a lightening bolt spell which found its mark at the queen,
Boss shoots but misses,
Vaneer casts flame strike and hits, seeing very pleased with himself he turned to the group to see the shock on their faces,
“What?” asked the cleric
“You said no fire spells as we didn’t want to set the place alight before we entered!” exclaimed Otto
“Oh yeah! Whoops! Ah well no harm done” Vaneer smiled

What the cleric then didn’t see as his back was turned was that the spell had alerted the 4 wax constructs living in the vats that the queen was under attacked and so emerged from their slumber.

“Um! Vaneer you might want to….” Natalia mentioned whilst pointing in the direction of the queen.
Vaneer turned round, “Oh come on! Seriously! Hey that’s not my doing ok guys?” he protested.

Constructs(1)&(2) smash into Vaneer,
Construct(3) attacks and hits Miro,
Construct(4) attacks and hits Boss,
Queen attacks Otto and hits,
Hugo attacks Construct(3) and hits,
Miro attacks and hits Construct(3),
Otto casts Haste on the party,

Boss shoots and hits Construct(3),
Vaneer lets off a Healing Burst,
Construct(1) misses Vaneer,
Construct(2) hits Vaneer and locks the cleric into a grapple,
Construct(3) misses Miro
Construct(4) hits Hugo and grapples the fighter,

Queen attacks Otto but fails to land a blow,
Vaneer mentions that if the queen is defeated the constructs should stop attacking,
Miro tumbles over to the queen but fails to land a hit,
Hugo and Construct(4) are still grappling,
Otto casts a scorching ray just as he is knocked by the tussle of combat and hits Vaneer instead of the queen,
Boss manages to drive his attack deep into the queen’s chest dealing critical damage,

Vaneer lets off another healing burst whilst still in the clutches of construct(1),
Construct(2) punches Vaneer and knocks the cleric out cold,
Construct(3) attacks Miro but fails to land a hit,
Hugo and Construct(4) continue their grapple match,
Queen attacks Otto and hits the sorcerer,
Miro stabs the queen dealing the final blow as screams in agony whilst at the same time the magic holding the constructs together fails causing them to melt into puddles on the floor.

Boss runs to Vaneer’s aid and administers a healing potion down the clerics throat bring the cleric back to his feet where he shortly starts to heal up all of the parties wounds.

Whilst searching the area for some grubs they eventually stumble upon the queens token a pair of diamonds shaped as hands and shortly there after they soon find the jackpot of grubs where they gather as many as they can before heading back to the volcano.

Abadius 27th 17 - Well that was Easy!

The group rest uneventfully and awake well rested.

As promised after a spot of breakfast Vaneer makes straight to the petrified giant and cast’s a dispel magic which takes hold and works first time round as the creature yawns and disappears back down the hole that it had created without even a thanks.

Ongar now relieved agrees to keep his end of the deal and escorts the group through the doors to meet ‘tick tock’ the foreman.

Tick tock was an humanoid creature that appeared to be made of metal and carried around a large keyring that was in the shape of an human hand with the keys attached to where the fingers should be.

The group approaches tick tock and asks if would be willing to hand over this token, to their surprise he agrees providing one condition. He asks the group to travel to the Manholds and retrieve at least 6 grubs from the queen there so that he can use them to repair the smithy, on receipt of the grubs he will gladly hand over the token.

Before leaving Vaneer asks about the petrification of the giant and who did it, Tick tock informs them that it was more of a punishment out of annoyance because the giant had halted production with his ‘accident’ so the dragon sent one of his djinns to do the deed to show others that he won’t tolerate idiocy.

After agreeing to the deal the group soon collect their items and leave the volcano inn to spend the day travelling towards the Manholds.

Abadius 26th 17 - The Owl and Giant Shrinkage conundrum

The group awake fully rested and undisturbed and soon make their way towards the demons fen.

The journey takes the majority of the day and as they approach the fens the group can see numerous bubbling pools of various colours and an awful smell of sulphur lingering in the air.

As they begin to travel into the fens the group soon notice a small group of dark owls fly overhead whilst performing some sort of aerobatic display before splitting and flying of in different directions.

As the group continue travelling Vaneer soon notices that following Miro was a carpet, the cleric pointed this interesting sight out to Otto whom attempted to pick up the carpet but found that oddly enough the carpet had replaced the rouges shadow.

Off in the distance the group then spotted what appeared to be a rather large owl could be seen flying away from them. The pair decided to finally mention to Miro that his shadow had been replaced with a carpet

Miro seemed a little unimpressed as he remembered an old child’s tale about an owl who would steal people’s shadows if they stayed out too late and from that point on they would be forever cursed.

After much ridicule the group eventually decide to go looking for this giant owl and head in the direction where they last saw it heading which was towards an outcropping of trees in the distance.

They eventually spot the owl (Avoral) sitting within a tree, “Greetings our feathered friend!” spoke Vaneer.

The owl spoke back in the celestial language which luckily the cleric understood,
Vaneer asks if the owl had taken Miro’s shadow to which the winged creature replies “Yes”.

Vaneer asks if there is in any way a possibility for them to negotiate for the return of Miro’s shadow to which the owl asked what they had to exchange; the group take some time to rummage through their portable hole and eventually offered the owl an magical feather token to which the owl agreed was an acceptable trade and then returned Miro’s shadow.

Before leaving the owl the group asked if it held one of the creators tokens that they were seeking of which it didn’t. The owl did tell them though who had the token they were looking for and so he told the tale of Morning choir and Barrow king.

It appeared that Morning Choir originally had the token and tried to eat it but she couldn’t stomach the agony of devouring her creator and therefore regurgitated the token. Barrow King then took the token for himself and now dislikes any living creature he sees.

The group say farewell to the owl after learning which direction to head to find both Morning Choir and Barrow king.

Eventually they arrive at a still black icky looking lake with an island in the centre, on the island numerous lights could be seen bouncing around. It appeared though that the only dry way to the island was over a nearby rope suspension bridge.

As they approached the bridge they could hear in the air the sound of someone or something singing which was occasionally broken up with the sounds of sobbing and crying. Next to the beginning of the bridge they could see what could only be explained as a serpent with wings that was just slowly fluttering around near the shore singing and crying to itself.

Otto greeted the creature and urged it to divulge to the group as to the nature of why it appeared to be upset.

The creature turned out to be morning choir and she was just so upset with what she and the others had done to their creator, she was terribly upset also at never again being able to feel joy and laughter.

Feeling something close to pity for the creature the group decide to spend some time with morning choir telling her jokes and attempting to dance in hopes that in some way it might cheer her up if only for a little while before asking her permission to pass over the bridge, though she warns of Barrow kings evil and that as living creatures he will not listen to reasoning.

As the finish crossing the bridge they notice that the dancing lights they had seen actually belonged to large quantities of fireflies which seemed to form a path to a clearing outlined with little candles and in the centre were two larger and whiter candles, one of which was already extinguished and between those candles was an undead looking humanoid sitting upon a sarcophagus.

As soon as the Barrow king saw the group he threatened them to leave, they at least attempted some diplomacy but he would not listen and jumped off the sarcophagus and then extinguished the flame on the last white candle.

Just as the flame is snuffed out the earth beneath the groups feet begins to shake violently as hundreds of hands erupt from beneath the soil and attempts to grab hold of the group to which only Vaneer falls victim to.

Miro attempts to feint Barrow king and succeeds at distracting him but the Halfling fails to land the first blow,
Hugo charges in but also fails to land a blow,
Vaneer sensing that the hands are part of a Haunt releases a positive energy burst to try and counter its affects,
Otto casts burning hands to re-ignite the candles which succeed, causing the hands to recede back into the ground.

Boss takes a shot at the Barrow King but misses his target,
Barrow King laughs at Miro but fails to hit the Halfling,
Hugo gets behind Barrow King and manages to land a blow against his foe,
Miro attacks again but still fails to score a blow,
Vaneer lets off a Holy Smite at the undead fiend,

Otto casts scorching ray and hits,
Boss shots again landing a well placed shot,
Barrow king attacks Hugo and hits which results in Hugo looking rather pale afterwards,
Miro misses again,

Hugo attempts to hit back at the Barrow king but his weakened state causes him to miss,
Vaneer cast searing light at his foe which seems to land a hefty blow,
Otto casts magic missile which hits and turns the Barrow King to dust.

“Nuts!” exclaimed Vaneer “We should have tried asking him where he keeps his token!” the cleric continued.

The group realising what their hastiness had caused them groaned at the thought of having to search the entire island for a small gem…if it was on the island at all!

Otto begins the search and finds nothing only for Miro’s keen eyes to find the heart shaped ruby well hidden in the Barrow kings sarcophagus.

The group then look at the map of the land and decide to next head to the Smiths Caldera.

The journey is short but by the time they arrive it is obvious that it starting to get late as the first hints of sunset could be seen in the child drawn sky above as a couple of red and orange squiggly lines.

In front of them stood an enormous volcano with a stairway leading up to what they suspected was the volcanoes peak and so they started the long climb.

Near the summit they find a flattened plateau, the stairs continued no further and in the side of the volcano stood a very large set of double doors, though standing in between the group and the doors were two creatures whom looked like they had been cross bred with a giant, a earth elemental, fire elemental and a dwarf! (Think giant rocky dwarf with actual flaming hair and beard!)

“Bugger off!” one of the dwarf creatures shout to the group
“Err No!” replies Miro
“You heard me now bugger off!” the dwarf shouted again over the roar of the volcano
“We come looking for a token” shouted Otto back
“Sod….Off!” is the response back
“Look we only want to talk to someone inside” exclaimed Vaneer as the group approached.

“Tough! Only Dwarves are allowed in” responded one of the door keepers as he spat in the groups direction out of discuss
“But I am a Dwarf!” shouted Miro
“You! A Dwarf, come on laddie you no more a dwarf than that pile of rocks there!” said the guard on the left
“No no wait!” exclaimed the other dwarf “In fact you have more in common with that pile of rocks than you do with us dwarves” he continued,

“Yeah, we have more intelligence!” retorted Miro
“Why you, I ought ta!” the right guard started to lose his temper
For the next 10 minutes a match of insults is hurled back and forth between Miro and the dwarves when eventually the dwarves begin to laugh,
“Ya know what lad, ya be al’right, come! come! we’ll let you through the doors” the guard on the left said as he wiped a tear from his eye.

A little stunned at Miro’s luck the group slowly make their way through the double doors into what appeared to be a tavern, there were numerous firey/rocky dwarves sitting around the place and an Cyclops standing behind the bar serving drinks.

The group approach the bar and attempt to order some drinks though the barman just glares at them before stating,
“GIANT’S ONLY!”

“Now, I’ve had enough of this!” Miro shouts back, “I’ve just had to explain it to those thick skulled idiots out there and now I have to do it again! I am a fricking giant dwarf! I errr just suffer from Shrinking giants disease so give me a flagon of your best now!”

The silence could be touched as the group waited for the obvious reaction from the Cyclops whilst subtly getting ready to defend themselves.

So it was a shock when the Cyclops placed down a giant sized flagon on the bar in front of Miro, “Sorry mister! We have to make sure we keep the rif raf out you understand, if I had known you and your friends were SGD suffers I wouldn’t have questioned you” the Cyclops said.

“Its fine, it happens all the time” Miro smirked as he wrestled with his larger than life drink.

After a couple of sips the group realise that the drinks were quite potent though Miro continues to drink because as he put it “I worked hard for this!”

Whilst looking around Otto notices that there is a giant standing in front of another set of double doors leading out of the bar area and so asks the Cyclops as to where the door leads.

“Ah you see master dwarf sir that door leads to the smithy but ol’Ongar there aint letting anyone pass you sees because of the incident” the bartender kindly informed.

When pushed further on the incident it appeared that a giant dwarf smith had got careless and had smashed through the ceiling of the workshops below and got his head stuck in hole which is the floor of the room beyond the door. The foreman didn’t like this and so got the dwarf turned to stone to which Ongar protested and until the dwarf is turned back he refuses to let anyone through the doors to the smithy.

The group finding this interesting decided to talk to Ongar as they needed to get through and talk to this ‘foreman’ as chances were he or she obviously could hold one of the tokens.

Vaneer approaches Ongar and asks to see the dwarf turned to stone, at first Ongar declines but Vaneer insists stating that he may be able to help but first he needed to look the victim over.

Ongar finally agrees and opens the door to the next camber where the group are met but a massive grinning stone head sticking out of the floor.

Otto questions Ongar about the foreman and learn that ‘tick tock man’ could be found through another set of doors leading out of this chamber though he refused to let them through that door.

Vaneer then proposes a deal to Ongar, it would have to wait till tomorrow but if he could undo the petrification spell as requested then in return Ongar would have to take the group to see ‘tick tock’ and help defeat him.

Ongar took a moment to think and happily agreed to the deal and showed the group to some bunks where they could rest for the night.
